What is a Community Pantry?

The Fountain Pantry is a community hub offering affordable access to food and a way to prevent food waste. It’s a friendly bridge between a foodbank and a supermarket—open to everyone, no referrals needed!

For a small weekly contribution, members can choose from a variety of fresh produce and pantry staples, all while helping to support others. Plus, you can relax at our café, enjoy hot drinks, tasty food, and connect with others in a welcoming space.

Become a member online below, or drop-in for more information.

  • Membership
Membership fee is £6 per week (to receive a minimum of £15 worth of food) Membership is for local residents aged 16 plus living in the surrounding area. Our Pantry reserves the right to cancel your membership at any time. Examples of cancellation include but are not limited to: A member moving out of the area A member being abusive to staff/volunteers of the pantry A member selling on pantry items to a third party
  • Using the Pantry
Members must give their membership number and payment to the pantry assistant on each visit. Members must bring their own shopping bag each time. Fridge temperatures at home should be between 2c and 4c and freezer temperatures between -18c and -23c. Items available may vary due to availability from our suppliers. To ensure fairness to all members, some products may be limited to one per customer. There is no guaranteed availability of any item each week.
  • Food Information
It is the members responsibility to ensure they check food ingredients for any intolerances or allergies they may have towards foods. The pantry may receive unlabelled items; in these cases, the pantry will try their best to provide a list of ingredients on a separate sheet. The pantry may stock items that have passed their best before date. Best before dates are about quality, not safety. When this date has passed it doesn’t mean that the item will be harmful, but it may begin to lose texture/flavour. These items will be clearly marked.
